We collect

  • uPVC window framesCasement, tilt-and-turn, sash and French windows in white, woodgrain, rosewood or anthracite. The glass comes out on site before collection. Steel reinforcement and handles can stay in.
  • uPVC doorsFront, back, patio, French and bi-fold doors. Composite doors with a uPVC frame are fine too. Leave the hardware on.
  • Conservatory framesFrames, side panels and polycarbonate roof sheets from full strip-outs. Glass roofs go through our glass service.
  • Fabricator offcutsProfile offcuts, trim, beading and cill ends straight from the saw. This is the cleanest material we handle and it earns the best rebate.
  • Redundant bar lengthsFull lengths of profile you no longer need, such as old stock or discontinued ranges, in any colour. More on bar lengths and mis-measures.
  • Mis-measuresWindows and doors made to the wrong size that were never fitted. They earn a rebate.
  • RooflineuPVC fascia, soffit, cladding and guttering removed on replacement jobs.

Call us first

  • Timber and aluminium framesThese are not our main stream, but we can sometimes route them. Ask before you load them.
  • Mixed skipsuPVC buried in general waste cannot be recycled. Keep it separate. For the rest of the job, see site waste skips.
  • Asbestos or contaminated materialThis needs a specialist licensed contractor. We cannot take it.

How a collection works

There is no account to open and no minimum contract. Single jobs are welcome, and regular fabricators get a cage and a schedule.

1

Call or email us photos

Tell us what you have, where it is and roughly how much. A couple of photos of the pile is enough. We quote the same working day.

2

We book the collection

In our hub regions we collect the same or next day, and within the week elsewhere. We fit around your yard or site hours.

3

We load up and send the paperwork

Our driver loads from your site and your eWTN is emailed within 24 hours. The frames go to a UK reprocessor and come back as new profile.

Collection from the house

If the job is on one of our routes, we can collect the old frames straight from the property, so your fitters don't have to bring them back to the yard.

How your old frames are recycled

uPVC is one of the few plastics that goes back into the same product.

What happens to old windows and doors

  1. Deglazed and collected The glass comes out on site, by you or by us. The frames, doors and offcuts are then loaded and weighed in.
  2. Shredded The deglazed frames go through a shredder and come out in pieces.
  3. Metal out Magnets pull out the steel reinforcement, hinges and handles for scrap metal.
  4. Granulated The clean uPVC is ground down into small chip.
  5. Cleaned and micronised Rubber and other plastics are separated out, and the chip is ground fine.
  6. New window profile The recycled uPVC goes into the core of new window frames.

What happens to offcuts and bar lengths

  1. Collected Offcuts and redundant bar lengths are collected from your cages or racks and weighed in. All colours can go in the same cage.
  2. Granulated The offcuts and bars go through a granulator and come out as small chip.
  3. Colour sorted The chip is sorted by colour, so you don't have to sort it yourself.
  4. Extruded The sorted chip is melted and pushed through an extruder.
  5. New products It comes out as new uPVC products.

Cages and skips

For uPVC we use stillage cages and 12 or 20 yard roll-on roll-off containers. Our other skip sizes are for general site waste. We supply our own, so there is no skip-hire company in the middle.

Cage
Fabricators
A stillage cage sits next to the saw for offcuts and trim. We swap it weekly or fortnightly to match your throughput.
12yd RoRo
Installers and yards
A roll-on roll-off container for frames and doors from replacement jobs. We put it in your yard and collect it when it is full.
20yd RoRo
Strip-outs, refurbs and demolition
For council housing programmes, conservatory strip-outs, refurbishments, demolition and mill conversions. It stays on site for the length of the job and we empty it on a schedule.

Rebates on clean uPVC

Collection is free for any trade load. On clean, high-volume material we pay a rebate on top, depending on what the material is and how much of it there is.

Fabricator offcuts are worth the most. Redundant bar lengths, mis-measures and deglazed frames also earn a rebate, whatever the colour. Rebates are for loads with no glass, or very little. Loads are weighed on a weighbridge or priced per van load, and rebates are paid within 24 hours. See scrap prices and rebates. Frames we deglaze for you on site, and anything with a lot of contamination, are collected free but do not earn a rebate, because the cost of sorting them and taking the glass out sits with us.

Send us photos and we will tell you what, if anything, we can pay. There is more on how the numbers work in our post on the cost of disposing of uPVC windows.

Common questions

Where can I dispose of old uPVC windows?
If you are in the trade, we collect them free from your site, your yard or, on our routes, the house you are working on. The glass comes out on site first, by you or by us.
Do you take glazed frames?
Yes. The glass comes out on site before collection. You can take it out yourself, or we do it on site when we collect, and the glass goes through our glass recycling service. Deglazed frames are worth more to us, so if you have the time to strip them yourself, say so when you ask for a quote.
Is collection really free?
For trade loads, yes. A van load or more of uPVC frames, doors or offcuts is collected free of charge. We do not normally collect single domestic windows.
What paperwork do I get?
We email an eWTN within 24 hours of every collection, and it covers your Section 34 duty of care. Annual tonnage reports are available on request for environmental returns. There is a full guide in waste transfer notes for window installers.
How much do you need before you will collect?
About a van load, which is roughly 30 frames or a cage of offcuts. If you generate less than that at a time we can leave a cage or skip with you and collect when it is full.
Do you collect from the whole of the UK?
Yes. Our five hubs in Chester, Wigan, Haslingden, Stoke-on-Trent and Rotherham give same or next day collection across the North West, Liverpool, North Wales, the Midlands and Yorkshire. Everywhere else in mainland Britain we collect within the week. See areas covered.
What happens to the frames after collection?
The frames are deglazed on site before collection. At the plant they go through a shredder, the steel and hardware are taken out, then the clean uPVC is granulated and micronised. It goes back into new window profile, fencing and building products. None of it goes to landfill. We have written up the whole process in what happens to old uPVC windows.
